Gallery 1 Temporary Closure, Nov 25th 2024 – April 14th 2025
We are delighted that Aberystwyth Arts Centre has been selected to be part of an exciting initiative which establishes a National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales- CELF.
CELF sees 9 galleries across Wales form a partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru and the National Library of Wales with the aim of sharing our national collection of contemporary art more widely. Through an extensive loans, outreach and commissioning programme, people in Wales will be able to explore the collection within their own local galleries as well as online.
As a result we have received significant Welsh Government investment through the Arts Council of Wales to help us improve our main gallery infrastructure.
In the meantime, our other galleries remain open and we will launch a new community engagement programme as well as exciting new CELF commissions – please keep an eye on our website for forthcoming news.
CELF is a partnership between Amgueddfa Cymru, National Library of Wales, the Arts Council of Wales, Oriel Myrddin in Carmarthen, Aberystwyth Arts Centre Gallery, Oriel Davies in Newtown, Storiel in Bangor, Plas Glyn y Weddw in Llanbedrog, Ruthin Craft Centre, Mostyn in Llandudno, Newport Museum and Art Gallery and the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea and is funded by the Welsh Government.
