As part of WOW Around Wales, the year-round touring programme of WOW Film Festival that brings bold, socially engaged cinema to communities across Wales, we are proud to present The Voice of Hind Rajab: a powerful and urgent cinematic experience that transcends traditional documentary form.
Directed by Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, The Voice of Hind Rajab bears witness to the killing of six-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab, who was trapped in a car under Israeli military fire in Gaza on January 29, 2024. Through the use of real emergency call recordings and carefully constructed re-enactments based on first-hand testimony and transcripts, the film reconstructs the hours during which Hind remained alive, alone, and pleading for help as Red Crescent dispatchers desperately tried to reach her.
This is a film that demands not only empathy, but attention: a testament to Palestinian lives, to resistance through truth-telling, and to cinema’s power to confront injustice and amplify silenced voices.
