Our spaces
Theatr y Werin is our main theatre space with a 312-seat auditorium. In 2018, it underwent a significant refurbishment and technical upgrade. Our stage hosts a wide variety of theatre and dance performances, ranging from visiting companies and community groups to our own productions.
Our Great Hall has a maximum capacity of 1250, seating over 900. It’s used for large-scale events from live music, stand-up comedy to University examinations and Graduation Ceremonies. It’s a flexible space, which means it can also be used for trade shows, conferences, weddings and other special events.
Our studio seats up to 80, and offers a smaller, more intimate space for new work.
Our cinema has a maximum capacity of 110 and features top of the range technology. Our cinema programme includes the latest blockbusters, art house flicks and live satellite broadcast events. It also plays host to Silver Screenings, Parent and Baby screenings, accessible screenings and several film festivals throughout the year, including the Wales One World Film Festival and Abertoir, Wales’ International Horror Festival.
We have a number of gallery spaces for temporary exhibitions including:
Gallery 1 is an elegant, purpose-built main exhibition gallery which showcases contemporary art including painting, sculpture, installations and new media. It’s a fully invigilated space, approximately 250 square metres.
Gallery 2 provides a focus for print and photography work and is approximately 125 square metres. It’s not invigilated full-time but is checked by staff throughout the day.
The Ceramics Gallery showcases the best in contemporary ceramics and is also home to the University’s outstanding Ceramic Collection.
The Eye is a digital viewing space for video art and film. It has a 52″ sized screen and can be found in the Centre’s main foyer.
Our Café Gallery provides a more informal setting for smaller-scale work.
Spaces for our Community Arts programme include four purpose built dance studios, ceramic studio, 3D & 2D studios, two rehearsal spaces, music room, photographic suite and a Digilab.
