Ever wondered why we laugh and what makes things funny? What is it about humour that’s so captivating that we keep coming back for more?
No joke—humour is serious business. In this talk, an academic who actually studies humour for a living (yes, that’s a real job) takes you on a whistle-stop tour through the science of what makes us laugh, why some jokes kill and others bomb, and how even other animals can joke and laugh too.
Why did humour evolve? What functions might it serve in terms of survival, social bonding, or mate selection? What does science really say about laughter being the best medicine?
Expect some laughs, some science, and maybe even an awkward pun or two. Because let’s face it—wit happens.
