Sam Vicary’s paintings draw deeply from memory and personal experience. Her quiet, contemplative works capture suspended moments – times when thought settles and the world seems momentarily still.
Through still life, Sam creates multiple viewpoints: pots and plates in the foreground invite the viewer to journey through layered landscapes and pause on fragments that lead elsewhere. Objects rest on walls and rocky ledges, guiding the eye into the distance. Her small stitch paintings express a free, playful response to the land, using thread to trace the lines of hedgerows, fields, and boundaries.
