Before you come to an event, get to know our building with our interactive 3d map

We’ve also created a guide for people attending events and activities, including notes to help carers or accompanying assistants.

Useful information

  • Parking is reserved next to the main entrance approach for drivers with limited mobility.
  • Two spaces are also available at the rear of the theatre, with level access to the main foyer.
  • There are 4 wheelchair spaces at the front of Great Hall with level access to the street and the main floor of the Arts Centre, including the Box Office and the Great Hall Foyer.

  • Wheelchair access is possible to all performance and workshop spaces in the venue.
  • Access to the main foyer and box office is at ground level, there’s a lift up to the theatre foyer and a stair lift down to the lower foyer.
  • The back row of our cinema is reserved in advance for wheelchair users, carers and anyone with physical access needs.

Toilets are accessible on all levels except the lower foyer.

We welcome trained guide dogs and assistance dogs. If you’d like to bring your assistance dog into the auditorium, let us know when you book your ticket.

For the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors, we reserve the right to refuse access, or to revoke access, for a dog that does not comply with the Equality and Human Rights Commission description of an assistance dog:

  • Highly trained.
  • Will not wander freely around the premises.
  • Will sit or lie quietly on the floor next to its owner.
  • Trained to go to the toilet on command and so are unlikely to foul in a public place.
  • should be recognisable by the harness or identifying coat they wear.

We believe that assistance dogs are highly trained professional working animals and are unlikely to cause any issues, and that owners must accept responsibility for the behaviour and wellbeing of their assistance dog. The owner should take all reasonable steps to ensure that their assistance dog does not cause physical harm to anyone attending our venues, nor damage property.

Assuming compliance with the above we can arrange suitable seats with space for your dog to remain with you. In consideration of other customers, the welfare of the animal, and to maintain safe venue evacuation routes, dogs are only allowed within our designated seating areas.

In the interest of your dog’s welfare, if our staff are aware that the performance you are going to watch is particularly loud or has sudden noises such as gunshots, we reserve the right to refuse the assistance dog entry into the auditorium.

If you are concerned about content that may be disturbing for yourself or for your assistance dog, please check the events content guidance for content warnings or get in touch for advice.

Hearing loops are installed in the Great Hall, theatre and cinema.

Accessible shows & screenings

Audio described & captioned

We are the only cinema provider of accessible film content within an hour’s drive of Aberystwyth. Widening access is also an important part of our programme, so we regularly programme Audio Described and Subtitled films.  These will be advertised in the title of the film.

Take a look at the Hynt website for accessible events. www.hynt.co.uk

Relaxed

Our relaxed screenings change the usual environment in the theatre or cinema so it’s more comfortable for a range of needs. These changes include:

  • No adverts or trailers
  • Subtitles
  • Low-level lighting
  • Reduced volume
  • Freedom to make noise and move around

These will be advertised in the title of the film.
